To me, a book that gets a 5 is a book that changed my life and a book I have to reread over and over again. Let me begin by saying that I very seldom give 5s. Truly one of the best fantasy novels ever written.

Update 6/12/18 - this book gets me every time. I’ve thought about it a lot and I would have to say that this is my favorite book of all time. It’s absolutely heartbreaking, but yet so satisfying. I cried no less than six times while I was reading this book. Finally Taran must decide whether to be High King. In the concluding volume Taran and companions join the rest of Prydain in a great effort to defeat Arawn directly. The series follows the adventures of Taran, the Assistant Pig-Keeper, as he nears manhood while helping to resist the forces of Arawn Death-Lord. It was awarded the Newbery Medal for excellence in American children's literature in 1969.
